With “100 percent Tokio Hotel” RTL presents another issue of the successful portrait series “100 percent”. Tokio Hotel are the pop phenomenon of the 2000s. Screaming fans, sold out concerts all over the world and prizes after prizes: From a school band from Magdeburg became the voice of a whole teenage generation.

In 2001 the twin brothers Bill and Tom Kaulitz, Gustav Schäfer and Georg Listing met and formed their first band Devilish. In 2003, the four are discovered by music producer Peter Hoffmann. The first single of Tokio Hotel “Durch den Monsun” shot in the first week after publication in August, 2005 straight to number one in the German charts. They broke all sales records and got all the important music prizes. Then in March, 2008 the shock: Bill had to undergo a vocal chord operation. Planned appearances in Europe and North America were called off, the band is worried whether Bill’s voice will be the same after the operation or whether he can sing at all again. After successful recovery Tokio Hotel won in September, 2008 the deserving reward for their hard work in the USA: At the MTV video Music Awards in Los Angeles they got the Award for “Best New Artist”. America celebrates the new “German pop sensation”, the concerts are sold out and the following is substantial.

RTL’s tale about the band’s successes and failures draws a very emotional portrait. Besides, RTL also shows up to now unpublished film material besides archive material. Moreover, fans, friends and companions get a chance to speak.
