The Birthday Bash Year Two!
Since January of 2007, the Tokio Hotel Official Philippine Street Team has been organizing and running projects that would help expand the Tokio Hotel fanbase in the country. Through fan club activities, we are able to promote the band and keep the fans excited and in the loop with the latest band news and events.
For the second half of the year, THP launched its second major event — The Birthday Bash: Year Two! — where fans celebrated Gustav’s 20th and the Kaulitz twins’ 19th birthday.
The party took place at the ACL Suites Conference Room in Quezon City. The video showing started promptly at 1PM. All videos were shown on widescreen.
The first leg of the video showing started with the Leb die Sekunde Interview video, followed by Bill’s complete Star Search performance and the band’s early official music videos. The program was then officially opened by Sarah (AKA rarrkun at the THP forums) of the THP Official Street Team.
The fans were glued to the screen during the second leg of the video show. More official music videos were shown (Zimmer 483 period) as well as the Studio Tour with Bill and Tom from the Spring Nicht single DVD. The attendees were then treated to videos from the 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards and the Tokio Hotel 483 Live in Europe Documentary DVD (with subtitles).
We had a short but fun break right after the documentary. Another ‘How Well Do You Know the Band’ trivia game commenced (we had one during Georg’s birthday party last April 5th) and the fans thought hard to answer the questions. After all, they were playing for posters of different sizes! According to the attendees, some of the questions were quite hard as most of the attendees. Here are a few of the questions:
What was Bill’s biggest sin?
How old was Gustav when he had his first drum set?
What kind of diploma do Tom and Bill have now?
On which day of the week was Gustav born?
On which day of the week were the twins born?
What brand of cymbals does Gustav use?
How many times did Gustav pretend to be sick to cut class in his entire lifetime?
The fans wished they visited the THP forums first before coming to the event to ‘review’ some of the facts. Well, one of them actually did!
The video showing resumed after the trivia game. This time, the Tokio Hotel 483 Live in Europe Concert DVD was shown complete with subtitles. While watching, the fans started to chow on pizza and chug down some drinks.
Some of them even started taking pictures while eating. Bonds between fans formed automatically!
Most of them drooled over the posters that were for sale.
What they DIDN’T know was the fact that some of the posters were to be given away as prizes for another contest.
Right after the concert DVD ended, we had another contest! Don’t Forget the Lyrics: Tokio Hotel Style! The game had three levels: Easy (the English Tokio Hotel songs), Moderate (the most popular German TH songs), Difficult (the German TH songs that are quite hard to sing) and Nightmare (Wir schliessen uns ein). For the easy and moderate level, the winners got to take home the official event poster. For the Difficult and Nightmare levels, the winners got to choose the poster they wanted.
After the game was the last leg of the video showing. The videos shown were those of the highlights of the band’s career for this year so far — Bill’s operation in early 2008, their guestings on North American shows in May and other interviews in English. It made the fans realize how far the band has reached and how big they have become especially since the party took place during the MTV VMA 2008 Weekend. It won’t be too long until they step on Philippine soil. All we have to do is support the band and help promote them in the country!
And to show how much they want to meet the band someday, the street team has made it possible to live one of their Tokio Hotel fantasies — a Meet and Greet!
Well, almost! The tarpaulin was life-size, anyway!
Of course, what’s a party without cake?! Maligayang Bati (Happy Birthday) Gustav, Tom and Bill!
And what everyone has been praying for all day… the Tokio Hotel 483 Live in Europe 2-DVD Set Raffle! The lucky girl was Heaven who, as you can see in the pictures, was a very, VERY happy winner.
She was the one who took home the life-size Pseudo Meet and Greet tarpaulin, too.
We also raffled off two copies of the Arthur und die Minimoys DVD. The lucky girls who took home the copies were Kristel and Ancess.
Since it was a THP event, nobody went home empty handed! Each attendee was given a souvenir. 
The 2008 Birthday Bash was THP’s biggest event of the year. It was so nice to hear how happy the attendees were at the party and how excited they are for the band and for the entire fan club once Tokio Hotel comes over to the Philippines to perform live. We’re not sure when that will be but we’re definitely sure that it will happen based on just how powerful and unique Tokio Hotel fans’ willpower is. For now, we’ll keep on proving that no matter how small our islands are, we will always be big fans. Until the next event! Tokio Hotel Pilipinas, scream it out loud!
